Maharshi Valmiki Ashram - Lalapur:
This place is located at a distance of 30 km from Chitrakoot on the Banda - Allahabad highway. There is a small hill here.
A village goddess named Ashambra is established in the central part of this hill. Maharishi Valmiki's Ashram is built on this mountain.
There is a small inaccessible way to come here. A statue of Maharishi Valmiki is installed on the hilltop. At the bottom of the hill is a township called Lalapur.
A huge fair is held at this place on the four Mondays of Magh (Hindu month) month and Navratri (Hindu festival) of Chaitra month (Hindi month ) and devotees gather.
A river of serene clean water flows down this hill. It is called the Valmiki River, but now it is named Ohan in government records.
